The German contralto, Eva Bornemann, studied first music science, and then she became pupil of the singing teachers Lore Fischer and Eva Liebenberg.
From 1949 to 1951 Eva Bornemann was engaged by the State Opera of Stuttgart, however she decided then to appear only as a concert singer. In 1955 she won the International Singing Competition of s'Hertogenbosch, and received the rarely given Kathleen Ferrier medal. As concert alto singer she had a successful career in Germany. In addition, she was considered as an excellent J.S. Bach interpreter, and had successes in oratorios and church music works of George Frideric Handel, L.v. Beethoven, W.A. Mozart, Verdi and Bruckner. She dedicated herself gladly to contemporary works, and was a well-known Lieder singer. She appeared very often at the West German broadcast. She sang abroad in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and Antwerp.
In addition Eva Bornemann was a sought-after music pedagogue, and since 1969 she was Professor at Musikhochschule Hannover.
