The German contralto, Esther Borghorst, studied Pharmacy and, in parallel, received singing lessons with Professor Mechthild Georg in Cologne as well as with Professor Michaela Krämer, Stephanie Doll and Professor Janina Stano in Düsseldorf. Currently, she is trained by Gudrun Pelke and Jagna Sokorska.
Esther Borghorst’s busy concert career has taken her to various concert stages at home and abroad, including the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, and in 2006 at the invitation of the Stifts-Chor Bonn, the Aichi Art Center in Nagoya, Japan. Various radio and CD recordings document her musical work.
The focus of Esther Borghorst’s work lies in the vocal concert and oratorio area. Her wide-ranging repertoire includes sacred and secular compositions from Baroque to contemporary music, starting with the great works of George Frideric Handel and J.S. Bach (Messiah, Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Mass in B minor (BWV 232)) to compositions by Haydn, Mozart (various Masses, Requiem), Felix Mendelssohn (Elias, Paulus), Rossini (Petite Messe solennelle), Langlais, Arthur Honegger (King David) and Arvo Pärt.
As a member of the soloist ensemble "Consort Franckfort" Esther Borghorst devotes herself mainly to early music. By specialising in contemporary music and several international award-winning choir "Modus Novus" she also worked with Harry Christophers, Professor Fritzter Wey, Professor Scott MacPherson and Mauricio Kagel. |
