The German mezzo-soprano, Stefanie [Stephanie] Gläser-Blumenschein, comes from a musical family and learned to play the first instrument at the age of 4. The first singing lessons followed at the age of 16. She completed her vocal studies in Magdeburg in 2001 with distinction. In 2002 she received an invitation to the Rundfunkchor Berlin master-class in Berlin and subsequently a scholarship there (since 2002).
Inspired by the experience of creating music together in a professional ensemble, Stefanie Blumenschein made ensemble singing her main activity. The Rundfunkchor Leipzig (since 2002) and GewandhausKammerchor followed, as well as gradually all radio choirs in Germany and some selected independent ensembles, such as the Münchner Kammerchor, ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath), Capella Claudiana Innsbruck (since January 2017), and Solistenensemble Stimmkunst (Director: Kay Johannsen; since October 2018). Since the 2016-2017 season she has been part of the core choir of the newly founded Zürcher Sing-Akademie (Directors: Timothy Brown/Florian Helgath; since January 2016).
In addition to solo and educational tasks, her field of activity mainly focuses on the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks (since May 2005) and SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart (since December 2019). |
