The German tenor, Lothar Blum, had studied engineering before getting his singing training with Brigitte Dürrler at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf. He supplemented his studies by participation in master-classes with Peter Schreier, Kurt Equiluz and the Hilliard Ensemble.
Lothar Blum's main interest applies for the sacred music of all eras, from the Gregorian Chant to contemporary works. Special emphasis is given to the cantatas, Passions and oratorios of the Baroque, especially the Evangelist part. He has participated in the performances of several operas from different periods, from the Baroque in the 20th century. His work with Christoph Spering, Hermann Max, Peter Neumann, and also with James Conlon and Arvo Pärt, was partly documented by CD and broadcast recordings.
During his studies of musicology at the Universität of Köln, Lothar Blum was distinguished with the Karlheinz-Stockhausen Prize for his studies concerning the work of the composer. |
