The Swedish organist and choral conductor, Martin Blomquist, started early to sing in the choir and play the organ in the church's music lessons. He has studied for two years at the Sköndalsinstitutet and completed a cantor's degree, as well as four years at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm and completed an organist's degree. Conducting teachers included Hans Kyhle, Anders Colldén and Stefan Parkman. The organist degree was followed by two years of soloist training and a soloist degree in organ interpretation at the same institution. Organ teachers were Ralph Gustafsson, Anders Bondeman and Erik Boström.
Martin Blomquist gives regular concerts on the organ in Stockholm and the rest of the country. As a pianist, he works extensively with chamber music in various constellations. He has led oratorio performances with classical choral and orchestral works by, among others, W.A. Mozart, George Frideric Handel, Haydn, Rossini and J.S. Bach.
Martin Blomquist worked from 2002 to 2007 as organist in Ekerö pastorat. Since December 2007, he has been the organist in the Uppenbarelsekyrkan, Hägersten. |
