The German choral conductor and organist, Thomas Berning, completed his studies in church music at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold in the years 1987 to 1992.
After three years at the Antoniuskirche in Herten (Westphalia), Thomas Berning went in November 1995 as a Bezirkskantor of the Erzdiözese Freiburg to Heidelberg at the local Jesuitenkirche. In 1993, he won 1st Prize at the Gottfried Silbermann Organ Competition in Freiberg (Saxony). Since January 2007 he is Domkapellmeister at the Hohen Dom in Landkreis Hameln Pyrmont. For his interpretations of J.S. Bach's organ works, he has earned unanimous praise from audiences and press.
From 1996 to 2006 Thomas Berning directed an artistic organ class at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Heidelberg. Since 2007 he has been a lecturer for score playing at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. |
