The Australian bass, John Bernays, was a Lay Clerk in the Choir of New College, Oxford from 1986.
John Bernays' operatic work includes appearances in Mozart’s Zaide, The Marriage of Figaro and in Così Fan Tutte, while his chorus work includes appearances with the Royal Opera, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera and Kent Opera. His roles for the New Chamber Opera includes Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas, Ben in Menotti’s The Telephone, Marcaniello in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Lo Frate ’nnamorato, Zorastro in Georg Frideric Handel’s Orlando, and, in Benjamin Britten’s Church Parables, the Traveller in Curlew River, the Astrologer in The Burning Fiery Furnace and the Father in The Prodigal Son. |
