The Italian bass, Matteo Bellotto, obtained his diploma in clarinet and music education from the Conservatorio di Bologna. The, he decided to dedicate himself to singing studying at the Istituto musicale pareggiato Orazio Vecchi in Modena, under the guidance of Maestro Luisa Vannini.
Matteo Bellotto performs mainly Baroque repertoire and has collaborated with such conductors as Rinaldo Alessandrini, G. Garrido, Diego Fasolis, Filippo Maria Bressan, E. Gatti and Claudio Cavina, with whose ensemble La Venexiana he made three tours in the USA and two in Japan.
In 2007, Matteo Bellotto recorded and performed several times the role of Pluto in Monteverdi's Orfeo, at the Festival Lufthansa in London, National Auditorium of Madrid, in Regensburg and Melk. In 2008 he debuted the role of Seneca in Incoronazione di Poppea at the Festival di Herne and performed Lutheran Masses by J.S. Bach under the direction of Gustav Leonhardt. He loves to work with the Orchestra e Coro della Radio Svizzera, with whom he had the opportunity to perform as a soloist in Vespers by Cossoni, the opera Agnes by Paèr and the opera Ercole Amante by F. Cavalli.
Matteo Bellotto has participates regularly in major European Baroque music festivals such as the Festival Monteverdi di Cremona, Festivals of Ambronay, Bruges, Antwerp, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Wroclaw. He has recorded oratorios and sacred music by Antonio Vivaldi, Stradella, Monteverdi, Pasquini, Corbetta, Heinrich Schütz, Brunelli for various labels, Opus111, Glossa, Symphonia, Tactus, Brilliant Classics.
Alongside, Matteo Bellotto is dedicated to contemporary music; in 2004 he sang music by Gavin Bryars premiered with the Swiss ensemble Vox Altera, Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky, the role of Pilate in the Passio Christi by Giancarlo Facchinetti, the role of Superman in the opera Mister Me by Luca Mosca; recently he sang in the opera Il Processo Continua by F.Hoch and the opera Gesualdo considered as a murderer by Luca Francesconi.
In the current year Matteo Belloto will take part in the production of Orfeo at Teatro La Scala and Seattle the USA. He currently lives in Parma, Italy. |
