The Swedish counter-tenor and piano-tuner, Mikael Bellini, first trained as a piano technician, but subsequently decided to develop himself to singing as a counter-tenor. He studied at the Stockholm College of Music with, among others, Solvig Grippe.
He has been a member of the vocal ensemble Lamentabile Consort since its foundation in 1978 and is a member of the Stockholm Chamber Choir. Recently he has made a study visit to London and has toured extensively in Scandinavia. He is in great demand for opera performances, oratorios and concerts. He recorded Schnittke’s Faust Cantata and Requiem on the BIS label. Today he is considered as Scandinavia's foremost counter-tenor and has a wide repertoire, which ranges from the Renaissance to the 20th century. He regularly gives concerts all over Scandinavia and also performs in other parts of Europe. |
