The Russian choral conductor, conductor and arranger, Ilia Belianko, received his his first piano lessons at the age of 5. Since then he studied piano and sang in choirs. In 1982 he started studies of choral conducting at the Rimsky Korsakov Special School of Music St.Petersburg (Class of 1993). After his emigration to Israel he completed his studies at the Thalma Yalin School of Arts in Tel Aviv (1990-1993). In 2001, he graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music as an orchestral conductor (1996-2001). From 2004 to 2006, he attended a course in choral conducting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and in 2006 obtained his degree in choral conducting. In 2005, he won a laureate at an international competition for conductor in Riga. Twice he won a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation: in 1990 for piano and in 1999 for choral conducting.
In 1996, Ilia Belianko started his working life as a conductor of various choirs and orchestras, 'Ma ale Adumin Chambre Choir', Chamber Choir of the Music Academy in Jersusalem, Jerusalem's vocal ensemble 'Domino'. In the Netherlands, where he has lived since 2004, he is conductor of the Sint Cecilia Koor De Rijp, Deventer Deventer Kamerorkest, Flevoland Jeugd Symfonieorkest, Voorhouts Kamerkoor, Klein Byzantijns Koor in Utrecht, Amsterdams Synagogaal Koor and others. Since May 2014, he is conductor of the Gelders Oratoriumkoor. He currently lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. |
