At Pentecost 1993 the inaugural concert of the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle took place at Batzdorf Castle (Schloss Batzdorf), which is located idyllically on the river Elbe. It is also the site of the Batzdorf Baroque Festival, which has been taking place here every year for more than two decades now.
The ensemble is a welcome guest at Early Music Festivals, because it has specialised on “treasure hunting” through handwritten manuscripts at the Dresden State Library. They have put on their own opera productions based on the Dresden repertoire in the castles of Pillnitz, Gotha, Sanssouci, Neuburg on the Danube, Bayreuth and at the Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich. In 2012 the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle visited the Bachfest Leipzig with Johann Adolf Hasse's opera
Cleofide.
After 12 CD's with operas, oratorios, spiritual music, love cantatas, concerti, chanmber music, George Frideric Handel rarities, oboe concerts from the Johann Georg Pisendel collection and solo bass cantatas by G.F. Handel together with bass singer Raimund Nolte, the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle last published oboe concerts and chamber music of the brothers Graun (Carl Heinrich Graun & Johann Gottlieb Graun) in 2014 together with the soloist Xenia Löffler. |
