The Chinese-born American mezzo-soprano, Eliana Mei-Xing Barwinski, moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan, USA in 1997. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and Choral Music Education (2014-2018) and her Master of Music (2018-2020) degree from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. She is currently pursuing a Modern Voice Doctorate of Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a focus in early/sacred music and underrepresented art songs (since August 2021).
Eliana Barwinski has been employed as Outreach Music Director/Vocal Coach at Cranbrook Summer Theatre School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Former Artist at I SING International Young Artists Festival in New York City, New York; Former Staff Singer at Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (2014-2017); Staff Singer at St. John's Episcopal Church in Detroit, Michigan (2016-2019); Administrative Assistant at University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (February 2020-January 2021); Schola at Christ Church Grosse Pointe Episcopal (since October 2019); Road Manager at The African American Dance Company in Bloomington, Indiana (since August 2021); Manager at ROK: Reimagining Opera for Kids in Bloomington, Indiana (since January 2022); Alto Soloist and Schola at Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis, Indiana (since 2022). She currently (as of June 2022) sings at Christ Church Grosse Pointe, St. John’s Detroit, and Christ Church Cathedral Indy, and hopes to pursue a career in Sacred Music and Higher Education. In June 2022, she performed at Charlotte Bach Festival. In February 2023, she was alto soloist at the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project. |
