The American soprano, Geraldine (Gerrie) C. Ballad, performed for the American military in Vietnam as Gerrie Lynn. She toured varies locations singing for the American Heroes from 1968 to 1969. She told stories of her time there, and always felt it was her way to encourage the men and women there. She loved the veterans and went out of her way anytime she was out to go up and thank one for their service, especially those she met from Vietnam. She was a member of the Donelson Ladies Auxiliary Post 88, American Legion. She performed music from the years 1964 to 1967 with the Grand Ole Opry and performed on “The Ralph Emery Show”. She volunteered 16 years at Good Samaritan nursing home visiting the residents, they were her Angels, especially the Veterans. She baked them homemade cookies and loved visiting her family in Illinois. She worked for Brown Forman from the late 1970’s to late 1990’s, when she retired early to take care of her late husband, Carl. She loved having her grandchildren visit. |
