The BachChor Tübingen (= BCT) has a recognized place in the culture life of the university town Tübingen. It was created in 1947 as Tübinger Kantatenchor by Professor Hermann Achenbach and carries out since then for the rich musical program of this city a steady and versatile contribution. Since 1987 BCT stands under the direction of Hanns-Friedrich Kunz. More than half of over one hundred members of the choir are students of the University of Tübingen. In this way the BCT is an important link between city and university. BCT is a member in the Federation of German Concert Choirs VDKC and in the Deutschen Musikrat. Numerous concert tours led the choir among other things to France, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary. Its comprehensive repertoire reaches from the early baroque to the classical modern era, and contains, apart from standard works, also compositions which can be rarely heard. The BCT usually gives three to four concerts in a year. |
