The Bach Collegium Asunción was created as an artistic body of the Bach Society of Paraguay (Sociedad Bach del Paraguay), which was founded and directed by the maestro Diego Sánchez Haase, with the aim of spreading in Paraguay Baroque music, especially the works of J.S. Bach. The Ensemble has premiered in Paraguay numerous works of J.S. Bach, including oratorios, cantatas and concertos.
In April 2012 the Bach Collegium Asunción has performed in Paraguay with the prestigious Swiss Baroque music ensemble Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci) one of the most renowned early music ensembles in the world, at Opening Concert of the 2012 season.
The Bach Collegium Asunción has represented Paraguay in the very famous “Chiquitos International Baroque Music Festival” (Bolivia), in a tournee of four concerts in the Jesuits Missions of Chiquitos, Bolivia. Likewise, they have accompanied the German soprano Laila Salome Fischer in the interpretation of J.S. Bach cantatas. In 2013 and 2014 the Bach Collegium Asunción performed at the BachFest Cochabamba of Bolivia.
The Bach Collegium Asuncion is composed of the most prestigious Paraguayan specialists in Baroque music, who use period instruments.
In July 2013, they have made an international tour through Argentina and Spain under the International Tribute to Padre Antonio Soler, getting to perform at the Museum of Decorative Arts (Buenos Aires), the Grand Cathedral of Alcala de Henares (Alcala) and the Royal Monastery of El Escorial (San Lorenzo del Escorial).
The Bach Collegium Asunción has also participated in the National Chamber Music Series organized by the Ministry of Culture of Argentina in November 2013. |
