Aschaffenburger Kantorei (Choir)

Founded: 1947 - Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, Germany

The Aschaffenburger Kantorei had already been existed before World War II, and was launched as the choir of Christuskirche in 1947. Today, under the musical direction of Christoph Emanuel Seitz, the choir performs sacred and secular choral music of all styles, such as masses and oratorios of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern periods.

The mixed choir, consists of about 100 members, is one of the largest choirs in the Rhine-Main region. The main characteristic of the choir, as has been described by many concert-goers and reviewers, is the pleasant tone resulting from a balance of young and older voices.

In many concerts, the Aschaffenburger Kantorei has won many friends. A special highlight in the history of the Kantorei, is the performance of Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach in Aschaffenburg, Perth and Edinburgh in 2000.

The Kammerchor (Chamber Choir) of Aschaffenburger Kantorei appears regularly in the "Aschaffenburger Museumsnacht" (Aschaffenburgr Museum Night).
