The American violinist, music director and music pedagogue, Valerie Prebys Arsenault, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston (1991-1995); her Master's of Music degree in Early Music (violin pedagogy and Baroque violin) from Indiana University Bloomington: School of Music (1995-1998); and her Doctor of Music degree in Music from Florida State University: College of Music (1998-2001).
Valerie Prebys Arsenault has two favorite musical activities: teaching the violin and playing Baroque music. She is the President and Music Director of the Tallahassee Bach Parley (since June 2008). As Visiting Assistant Professor at Florida State University (since August 2001) she directs the Baroque Ensemble (on period instruments) and has taught violin and directed the Irish Ensemble. She is a member of the Tallahassee Symphony, a principal player and soloist with the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, and has performed and recorded with the Apollo Ensemble (New York) and Apollo's Fire (Director: Jeannette Sorrell).
At the Bach Parley String Academy, Valerie Prebys Arsenault uses a synthesis of Suzuki and traditional pedagogy, tailored to suit the strengths and learning styles of each student. Her approach is positive and compassionate, but also demanding, and she enjoys helping her students find creative solutions to technical and musical challenges. She currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida. |
