Ars Musica (Orchestra & Choirs)

Founded: 2007 - The Netherlands

Ars Musica Orkest

The Ars Musica Orkest (= AMO) is a young, professional, enthousiastic and flexible orchestra and performs throughout the Netherlands. The orchestra is being led by conducter Patrick van der Linden. During performances the orchestra involves the audience in their musical enthousiasm. Their programs consists of music from J.S. Bach to L.v. Beethoven, but always with something new and unknown as well.
Another factor for the orchestra is music education to children and adults: shows are being written especially for school audiences and the foundation Ars Musica has a choral school for children to support their musical education. More information about their projects can be found on their website.

Ars Musica Concertkoor
Founded: 2007

The Ars Musica Concertkoor (Ars Musica Concert Choir) was founded in 2007 and consists of ambitious amateur singers who like to take on new musical challenges. The artistic direction of the Concertkoor is in the hands of founder Patrick van der Linden. To achieve this, the Ars Musica Concertkoor provides an environment in which music is made at a high level. Quality, intensity and enthusiasm are central to this. The Concertkoor performs highlights from the choral literature with varied programs. This is alternated with projects in which compositions can be heard that are rarely performed or even a premiere. The choir has a permanent core of singers and is composed per project, depending on the programming.
The Concert Choir regularly collaborates with professional musicians and orchestras. For example, the choir is continuously coached by vocal educators who have more than earned their vocal spurs. The Concertkoor also often collaborates with the Ars Musica Orkest.
In March 2016, the Concertkoor could be seen and heard on television with the integral performance of J.S. Bach's St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) at the Pieterskerk in Leiden. In 2017, the Concertkoor celebrated its 10th anniversary in a festive manner with two performances of Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2 (“Lobgesang”).

Ars Musica Kamerkoor
Founded: 2010

The Ars Musica Kamerkoor (Chamber Choir of the Ars Musica Foundation) is a professional ensemble, which since its foundation in 2010 has been directed by conductor Patrick van der Linden. The ensemble has a flexible line-up, which makes it possible to present music from different style periods. In 2014, the ladies of the chamber choir successfully carried out a project for a women's choir.
Passion for music is the starting point for the members of Ars Musica Kamerkoor. The ensemble strives for the highest possible performance level. The emphasis is on the musical richness of J.S. Bach and the timbre palette of the 19th and 20th centuries. This combination enables special listening experiences due to the richness of colors and versatility. The ensemble pays special attention to contemporary composers. Every year the ensemble performs composition specially written for Ars Musica Kamerkoor. All this is reflected in the new multi-year project Bach Aan Het Woord, which links the church music of J.S. Bach with compositions from other times and in which a contemporary composer is commissioned to compose.
Providing teaching packages at secondary schools occupies a separate place in the ensemble. The use of professional singers on themes such as "Romanticism", "Calvin and the Psalms" or "Bach mobile" brings special choral music closer to the personal experience of young people.
