The Japanese harpsichordist, Chiyoko Arita, started her piano lessons at the age of 3 with her mother. Her musical training consisted of piano lessons with Iguchi Akiko at the Toho Gakuen School of Music, then after she studied harpsichord with Hideo Saito, following her University graduation in 1972, she joined Wieland Kuijken at the Royal Music Institute of Belgium. She was awarded with prestigious international prizes.
After returning to Japan, Chiyoko Arita was appointed as a lecturer at the Kunitachi Music College and the Toho GaKuen School of Music. She is associated with several chamber orchestras and ensembles as well with the Tokyo Bach Mozart Orchestra.
Chiyoko Arita recorded extensively works of J.S. Bach, Blavet, Muthel, Rameau. She frequently performs with the flute artist Masahiro Arita, to whom she is married. |
