The German bass, Nikolai [Nicolai] Ardey, received his musical training first with Horst Geier, Begonia Uriarte Mrongovius and Karl-Heinz Söndermann in cello, piano and choral singing. Since 1978, he participated in various choirs, such as the Choir of Schyren-Gymnaium Pfaffenhofen and the Basilikachor Scheyern; since 1987, he was bass soloist of the Basilikachor Scheyern and other choirs in and around Ingolstadt, Pfaffenhofen and Munich. He continued his vocal studies privately with Thomas Gropper at the Musikhochschule München, and participated in Lieder interpretation course with Heiner Eckels at the Musikhochschule Detmold.
Nikolai Ardey has regular concert and church music engagements in southern Germany (Munich, Freising, Ingolstadt, Pfaffenhofen and Scheyern), and in 2005 appeared for the first time outside the region, in Bad Hersfeld. In sings masses, cantatas, oratorios and works from the opera literature. Most recently, Hhis most recent engaments in the 2009-2010 season, include the role of Pilatus in J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) with the Pfaffenhofener Kammerchor, Jesus and the Evangelist in Arvo Pärt's Johannes-Passion in Kempten, Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach with the Arcis-Vocalisten München and the role of Aeneas in Purcell's opera Arcis-Vocalisten München at Stadttheater Lindau. In addition, Nikolai Ardey works as an engineer at BMW, where he directs the Advanced gasoline engines. |
