Quarteto Arabesco is a pioneering Portuguese string quartet. It has an original approach of varied repertoire, having available a wide range of concert proposals.
On period instruments, Quarteto Arabesco is devoted to historically informed interpretations of Baroque and Classical music. On modern instruments, it covers a varied repertoire of Portuguese music of the 20th and 21st Centuries, from fado and jazz to contemporary music.
Arabesco colaborates regularly with outstanding soloists and groups. Its work has had recognition of numerous people who are a reference in the musical world.
Since its premiere in 2006, Quarteto Arabesco has performed more than 160 concerts in the major music festivals and concert halls of Portugal (Gulbenkian Foundation, Casa da Música, CCB, among others), as well as for the radio and numerous recordings, collaborating with notable soloists and ensembles.
Recently, in May 2013, Quarteto Arabesco did a cicle or recitals in the Portugal Pavillion Trafaria-Praia by Joana Vasconcelos, at Biennale di Venezia. In March 2014 Arabesco performed in Palau de la Musica Catalana, in Barcelona, with the guitarist Pedro Joia, and in April in Madrid it presented the Camarón Suite, in homage to Camarón de la Isla. |
