The Spanish soprano and violinist, Alicia Amo, began her musical studies in the speciality of Violin combining with Classical Percussion and Ballet. In 2007 she obtained the Higher Diploma in Violin in San Sebastián with the best marks. In 2008 she realized a Master in Violin, began her studies of singing at the University of Graz and in 2009 she moved to Basle (Switzerland) to study Singing at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Gerd Türk. In 2011 she got the Bachelor degree and in 2013 the Master degree with Honors. She received lessons from Margreet Honig, Bernardette Manca di Nissa, Andreas Scholl, Emma Kirkby, Rosa Domínguez, Carlos Mena, Richard Levitt, etc. She has also studied Baroque violin and taken part in two Operastudio with René Jacobs (W.A. Mozart roles) and Alberto Zedda (Bel Canto).
Alicia Amo is winner of the I "Mozart" International Opera Competition Granada, I Manhattan International Music Competition, VIII "Francesco Provenzale" International Singing Competition in Naples, I Berliner International Music Competition, the principal role in the Atelier Lyrique “Le Parlement de Musique” in Strasburg and the residence at the Festival d'Ambronay and in Fondazione Cini Venezia. She has been finalist at the I International “Opera de Tenerife” singing Competition, the Norman Cooper Annual Chamber Music Competition (Aberdeen) and the XXIV International Singing Competition of Clermont-Ferrand.
Alicia Amo has sung sings as soloist with orchestras such as Zürcher Kammerorchester, Café Zimmermann, B'Rock Orchester, Orchestra di Camera di Lugano, Symphonie Orchester Reinach, Le Parlement de Musique (Director: Martin Gester), Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), La Cetra Barockorchester Basel (Director: Andrea Marcon), Al Ayre Español, Vokalakademie Berlin, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao, Orquesta Sinfónica de Burgos, Orquesta Sinfónica de Granada and Orquesta Sinfónica de la Radio-Televisión española among others.
Alicia Amo has performed W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in Royaumont-París (Susanna role with René Jacobs), Gluck’s Alceste in Ruhr Triennale Bochum and Innsbruck’s Festival (Aspasia role with René Jacobs), Purcell´s Dido and Eneas in Burgos (Belinda and second Woman roles with Óscar Gershensohn), F. Caccini´s La liberazione di Ruggiero in Basle and Semperoper Dresden (Nunzia role with G. Paronuzzi), George Frideric Handel´s Ariodante at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Dalinda role with Andrea Marcon), Monteverdi´s L´Orfeo in Teatro Arriga of Bilbao (Euridice role with K. Walter), Georg Philipp Telemann´s Orpheus ou l´inextinguible soif de vengeance d´Orasia in Strasbourg, Mulhouse Spa and Offenburg (Orasia role with Martin Gester), J. Alicia Amo founded Musica Boscareccia with Andoni Mercero and her CD “Dulze Acento” was nominated at ICMA 2016. She has been member of Rossoporpora Ensemble, Amsterdam Baroque Choir (Director: Ton Koopman), La Grande Chapelle, L’Armonia degli Affetti, la Ritirata and she also teaches historical singing in AIMAntiqua, University of Murcia and Baroque OperaStudio (University of Burgos).
In her trajectory as a violinist Alicia Amo has been concert-master and soloist with the Spanish Youth Orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestra of Burgos, member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), Steirische Philarmonie, Orquesta Sinfónica del País Vasco, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio-Televisión española and I Barocchisti (Director: Diego Fasolis).
Among her forthcoming projects it could be mentioned the performance of R. Wagner’s Siegfried (Waldvogel role) in Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo, W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte (Despina role) in International Festival of Granada, G. Verdi’s Don Carlo (Tebaldo role) in Teatro Real de Madrid, Arnold Schoenberg’s Quartet No. 2 in Santiago de Compostela, A. Stradella´s La Susanna (Susanna role), Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s La serva padrona (Serpina role) in Klagenfurt, G. Carissimi’s Jephté (Filia role) in Geneva, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No.4 at San Sebastián, Ligeti’s Mysteries of the macabre and G.F. Handel’s Messiah with Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, the recording of solo and duet pieces by B. Ferrari with Carlos Mena, and her debut at Auditorio Nacional de Madrid with Musica Boscareccia (Andoni Mercero). She currently lives in Alegría, Pais Vasco, Spain. |
