The Brazilian soprano, Elisabete Almeida, began studying music at the na Escola de Música da Universidade Federal da Bahia (Music School of the Federal University of Bahia). In 2001, she obtained her Bachelor of Music degreein singing from the Canto da Unicamp (Universidade Estadual de Campinas) under the orientation of Professor Adriana Giarola Kayama. In 2006, she obtained her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Akron, Ohio (USA), where she had studied with Professor Laurie Lashbrook. In 2006 she was also awarded "Tuesday Musical Scholarship" and "Ohio District Contest of the National Association of Teachers of Singing". She received the honor of "Outstanding Woman Scholar" at the University of Akron (USA) and the award "Outstanding Graduate Student in Voice" in 2008.
Recently, Elisabete Almeida was elected a member of Phi Kappa Lambda Music Society, and in 2010 won the award "Voices of Brazil" in the category Breakthrough. |
