The Egyptian pianist and music teacher, Seba Ali, started playing the piano at the age of 4 and had her concert debut at the age of 5. She obtained her Bachelor of Music from Cairo Conservatory; her Professional Performance Certificate in Piano Performance from Lynn Conservatory (2009-2011); her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Stony Brook University, New York (2011-2013); and her Doctor of Music Arts degree from from Stony Brook University (2013-2017). Her principal teachers are Vselod Demidov, Amal El-Shahed, Nibal Mounib, Roberta Rust, Christina Dahl. Other important mentors are Jon Robertson, Douglass Weeks and Gilbert Kalish. She has won numerous solo, chamber music, and concerto competitions in the USA and The Middle East. During her time in New York, she served as Organist and Pianist at Setauket United Methodist Church in East Setauket (since 2011).
Acclaimed for her masterful piano technique and wide-ranging musical imagination, Seba Ali enjoys a diverse career as a soloist, chamber musician, teaching artist, and entrepreneur. In high demand as an educator, she has served on the Piano Faculty at Cairo Conservatory in Egypt (since 2009); as Piano Teacher at Appel Farm Arts Camp in New Jersey (2013); Piano Professor at Long Island Conservatory/LISMA (2012-2016); Teaching Assistant (2012-June 2016) and Chamber Music Coach at the Pre-College Division (September 2014-June 2016) at Stony Brook University in New York; Adjunct Faculty (September 2016-August 2018) and Assistant Professor of Music (since September 2018) at The Lebanese American University (LAU) in Ras Beyrouth, Beirut Governorate, Lebanon; piano and chamber music faculty at YES Academy - American Voices, Imagine Summer Arts Camp in Lebanon, and Apple Hill Summer Chamber Music Workshop. Having a strong passion for teaching, she maintains a piano studio for sixteen years where her international student roster has gone on to win prestigious competitions and scholarships for postgraduate studies in the USA, Asia, and Europe. Her passion for education drew her to do extensive research on the teaching methods of the USA, Europe, and Asia, collecting it into a source to other educators.
As a cultural entrepreneur, and driven by her passion through education and outreach to her community. Seba Ali is the Founder and the Artistic Director of Imagine Workshop and Concert Series (IWCS) (since September 2016) and Imagine Outreach Program, both based at LAU in Beirut, Lebanon. |
