The English-born Australian bass and music teacher,Richard Alexander, studied at the Queensland Conservatorium wjerte he obtained his Bachelor of Music degree; and at Trinity College London, where he obtained his FTCL (Fellow of Trinity College London), LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London) degrees and Graduare Diploma (Education), as well as Working with children certificate. He is winner of many prestigious awards, including the Joan Sutherland award, the Remy Martin, the Lyric Opera of Queensland prize and Vienna State Opera Award (1998).
Richard Alexander debuted as Antonio in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro for the Wiener Staatsoper in the same year. He performs regularly with Opera Australia in roles including Osmin in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Figaro, Argante in George Frideric Handel's Rinaldo, Sarastro in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Colline in La bohème, Mustafa in L'italiana in Algeri, Don Basillio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Bottom in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Leporello in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni and Mikado. He sang Melisso in G.F. Handel's Alcina with Sydney Opera in 2007.
Richard Alexander has performed concerts with many leading orchestras including; Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia and the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble Stockholm. He currently lives in Sidney, Australia. |
