The Israeli conductor and Harpsichordist, Shalev Ad-El, as recipient of the AICF scholarships, graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He won the first prize at the Francois Shapira Competition in 1987.
Shalev Ad-El has quickly developed a reputation as one of Europe's most sought-after continuo players. As a soloist he has played with most of the leading orchestras in Israel including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra,
Israeli Chamber Orchestra and Haifa Symphony Orchestra. He has has given recitals throughout Europe, the Far East, South and Central America, and the USA.
In 1992 together with some leading Norwegian soloists, Shalev Ad-El founded the Oslo Baroque Soloists. Since then he conducted the ensemble among all in festivals in Prague, Mecklenburg, Festival van Flanders in Gent, Brugge festival, Münster festival, Fasch festival, Dijon, in the Leipziger Gewandhaus, in Israel Festival, in the 92Y of New York and in the Händel-Festspiele at Halle. Since 1997 he is aregular guest conductor at the Philharmonic Orchestra of Halle/Saale, Germany. He is also a regular member of Il Gardellino (Belgium), and The Dorian Consort (Switzerland) and the music director of Accademia Daniel (Israel).
Shalev Ad-El has made numerous radio, TV and CD recordings, both as a conductor and as a harpsichordist. He already recorded over 40 CD's for labels such as Chandos (GB), Denon (Japan), Accent, Eufoda and Klara (Belgium), Unacorda (Spain), Stradivarius (Italy), CPO, RAM, Ambitus and HR (Germany) and Koch International (US).
Shalev Ad-El held regular teaching positions at the Dresden Academy for Early Music (Prof. for the harpsichord 1992-1993), Brno Masaryk University (1992-2000) and Boston-University (Professor for the harpsichord 1999). He holds annual master-classes also at the Rheinsberg castle (Berlin) since 1992 and in Brezice (Slovenija). |
