Biography of the artist:
Born on November 23, 1945 in Villers-Faucon, France, Michel Chemin is an articulate French painter. He is a husband, father and friend who radiates his warm personality in all that he does.
Michel is totally dedicated to his paintings. Spending six years of his life in Morocco was a big influence in his art. His palette painting is full of warm and colorful tints like ocher, terracotta and browns directly inspired by the desert.
The themes for Michel's paintings come directly from his personal life. Music plays a large role in his life, as he plays the lute and classical guitar. Because of this, music is portrayed many times in his work and often relates to Bach, baroque, orchestral and chamber music. In his paintings, the musicians' faces show an inside radiant life. The orientalist style is also recurrent in his exhibitions which position him as the worthy spiritual son of great orientalist painters like Delacroix de Fortuny. Most of all, he is a painter of women. Curved women figures often appear in his paintings as bathers or nude models.
Since 1971, he has exhibited in Europe, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, France, and Morocco. His paintings are cherished in many important collections around the world. The Grand Bohemian Gallery is honored to exclusively represent and sell his beautiful work in North America.
