I called this period «publishing". In those years besides painting I was also a publishing editor. Those were years of strong polemics with Achille Bonito Oliva a very complex mystifier , also not convincing; Foucault assumptions on the 'other', on schizophrenia as the last point of departure for a new epistemology. In the works of this period I was finding it necessary to make the values of civilization' audible and visible; I proposed conceptual stratifications that could through 'differences" and "contrasts" harmonise apparently different experiences. Besides a dignified and sentimental recover of the intimate portrait painting or landscape painting, I was considering the possibiIity of uniting in the same work both the ctonic materials of Burri and the undefined signs of Tintoretto; giving Burri what belongs to Burri and Tintoretto his, without changing focus but making it possible to "turn the film" in an unthinkable place where spectators have the possibility of being in a condition of wakefulness.
