Christian Leberecht Zimmermann (Organ, Copyist)

Born: December 19, 1737 - Halle (Saale), Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
Died: April 13, 1799 - Riga, Russia

Christian Leberecht Zimmermann studied with Wilhelm Friedemann Bach in Halle. From 1763 he worked as organist at the Jakobikirche in Riga; from 1772 as organist at the Cathedral there.

In 1937 Nikolaus Busch named Christian Leberecht Zimmermann as the second pupil of J.S. Bach in Riga alongside Johann Gottfried Müthel (A-61). In fact, however, he was a pupil f W.F. Bach in Halle, as is clear from his application letter to Riga.
