Ernst August von Sachsen-Weimar (Regent) |
Born: April 19, 1688 - Weimar, Thuringia, Germany
Died: January 19, 1748 - Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany |
Ernst August von Sachsen-Weimar was born the son of Herzog Johann Ernst von Sachsen-Weimar. From 1709 he was regent of Sachsen-Weimar(-Eisenach (until 1728 together with Herzog Wilhelm Ernst).
The characterization of Herzog Ernst August as J.S. Bach's pupil is based on a misinterpretation of a Weimar invoice entry about lessons provided by J.S. Bach. The booking actually refers to Adam Friedrich Wilhelm von Jagemann (A-5).
