Christian Friedrich Rolle was a German composer. He wrote several Passions and some chamber music. Along with J.S. Bach and Johann Kuhnau, he judged a new organ in Halle in 1716, and he was among J.S. Bach 's competitors for the Kantorate at the Leipzig Thomaskirche.
His son, Johann Heinrich Rolle (b December 23, 1716 in Quedlinburg; d December 29, 1785 in Magdeburg), was also a composer. He was Kantor at Quedlinburg until 1721, then left for a similar position in Magdeburg, where he later became city music director. |
