Otto Friedrich Räder (Organ, Town Clerk, Bach's Pupil) |
Born: c1694 - Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Died: June 2, 1736 - Coswig (Anhalt), Coswig (Anhalt); |
Otto Friedrich Räder [Röder, Räther] was bor the son of Samuel Räder (brewer, white baker in Magdeburg). He studied at Universität Leipzig (enrollment for the summer semester 1713). Around 1718/1719 he stayed in J.S. Bach's house in Köthen (Anhalt). From 1720 he worked as organist and town clerk in Coswig (Anhalt).
According to a remark in the Köthen files in 1718, Räder (the names Räther and Röder are also used) was in J.S. Bach's Köthen house. Classes with J.S. Bach were most likely accompanied by this. In return, O.F. Räder may have been J.S. Bach's private secretary.
