Gliwicki Festiwal Bachowski (Gliwice Bach Festival) is taking place annually since 2000 cyclical cultural event of international scope. Throughout its history, the festival has often been visited ny the most prominent national and international performers who, thanks to the festival could be presented for the first time to the Silesia audience.
The guests of the festival have included harpsichordists: Allan Rasmussen (Denmark), Lorenzo Feder (Italy), Elżbieta Stefańska, Władysław Kłosiewicz, violinist Johannes Pramsohler (Italy), Lilia Slavny (Israel), Agata Sapiecha, Konstanty A. Kulka, cellist Andrzej Bauer, gambist Marc Caudle (England), ensembles Arte dei Suonatori, Concerto Polacco, Il Tempo, La Tempesta, Haag Hofmuzieck, Cracovia Danza.
The festival is the oldest evbent in the region, giving the audience the opportunity to see and hear live old musical instruments. Athe festival tok took place the Polish premieres of works by J.S. Bach and other composers of the Baroque period, which place the fesival in the mainstream of the most significant events of its kind in the country. The idea behind the festival is to present the works of J.S. Bach as a center of modern music, and ongoing source of inspiration for artists of different genres. Thanks to its formula the festival, in addition to early music performed on period instruments and in accordance with the historical principles, includes dance performances, jazz music and entertainment. Over the years the festival has become a recognized brand that distinguishes the region internationally, promoting the tourist and historical region and its sights. It is organized in cooperation with the Municipality of Gliwice. |
