History & Mission: |
In 1955 Paul Steinitz, Director of the London Bach Society, needed a more considered presentation of the Bach cantatas he was preparing for performance. This additional concert group allowed him an extra dimension to his study of them. With the help of Joan Brocklebank he set up this occasional choir and orchestra bringing with him some leading players.
The group met first in Wimborne and later at Sturminster Newton, studying Bach cantatas and related works. The Club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2005 and retains a similar format to that with which it started.
