Olga Zinoviera (Soprano)

Born: Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia

The Rusiian soprano, Olga Zinovieva, started her musical career at the age of 8, by attending the school of music in her native city Novosibirsk. Her remarkable talent stood out when she was still very young which resulted in her selection for Gnesins´ Russian Academy of Music in Moscow. In 2004 she completed her studies with great honours, for which she was highly indebted to her excellent teacher of singing, professor Margarita Miglow, herself once soloist at the famous Bolshoi Theatre.

As an opera singer Olga Zinovieva first appeared in Moscow and St Petersburg in Rossini´s Il Barbiere di Seviglia (Rosina) and Verdi´s La Traviata (Violetta). In 2006 she decided to further develop her career in Western Europe and she took up Master studies at The Royal Conservatory in the Hague, with Barbara Pearson and Diane Forlando. After her successful participation in the singer competition at French Toulouse, she appeared at the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam, the festival Classique in The Hague and during the Rotterdam Days of Opera. She has developed to be one of the greatest sopranos performing in The Netherlands.

Olga Zinovieva is not only an opera-singer, she has come to be an all-round performer who is capable of interpreting a large repertoire in a most attractive way. With her beautiful, tenuous voice coupled with her elegant style and personal charm, she succeeds in touching a wide audience. Critics praise Olga. Her voice is called pure, dynamic and of incredible reach. They also praise her technical skills and natural presentation, a rare mix of great beauty.

After her remarkable contribution, as Queen of the night in Mozart´s Die Zauberflöte, to the Opera Mosset Festival in the French Pyrenees in 2008, her development as solo singer quickened through the collaboration with her mentor, the famous specialist of Baroque Pieter Jan Leusink. She made her debut all over the country as soloist in concerts of J.S. Bach´s Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Mozart´s Requiem and Coronation Mess, five of which concerts were performed in Amsterdam Concert Hall. Her first TV appearance was in 2011 when she performed as solo soprano in the Dutch version of of J.S. Bach´s Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) which was also released on CD and DVD.

In Vocal Group CALL Olga Zinovieva has grown to be the leading lady. Apart from the extraordinary development in her Baroque repertoire, the concert tours with Vocal group CALL (the Classical PROMS and Christmas concerts with Louis van Dijk and Cor Bakker) offer a perfect opportunity to excel as a soloist in a wide range of pieces. The very special attraction of the Russian soprano shows to full advantage in musical encounters with an audience of over 40.000.

The CD-DVD “In Paradisum” and the CD-DVD “Amazing Grace” which Olga Zinovieva made with Vocal Group CALL conducted by Pieter Jan Leusink, show impressive contributions. Sergei Rachmaninov´s version of Vocalise, which was recorded in a lake, is an artistic masterpiece and the devout interpretation of Gomes´s Ave Maria was greatly applauded. On the CD-DVD Christmas with CALL Zinovieva´s interpretation of Caccini´s Ave Maria, in the extraordinary ice hotel at Finnish Kemi, is of outstanding beauty. Recently she has presented her first solo album titled “SONG to the MOON” with a large variety of special compositions and arias. Her great admiration for the compositions of her fellow countryman Sergei Rachmaninov shows in ZdesKhorosho (“How peaceful”). For 2012 and 2013 various CD recordings have been planned.
