Barbara Zidar (Soprano)

Born: Amstetten, near Sankt Pölten, Lowere Austria, Austria

The Austrian soprano and singing teacher, Barbara Zidar-Willingen, was born in Amstetten and grew up in Kirchstetten, Lower Austria. She studied for IGP Master's Degree in Classical Singing at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna; MDW) with Mag. Steffl-Holzbauer. The focus was on choral and ensemble conducting with Professor Alois Glaßner and Mag. Michael Grohotolsky. Further deepening in children and youth tuning, as well as children's choir. She studied second instrument violin with University Professor Maeve Auer, and graduated in 2012 with honors.

From 2008 to 2016, Barbara Zidar was Director of Chor70 Hainfeld. She was also singing pedagogue at the local music school. Since 2012, was also voice trainers at the Musikschule Prinzersdorf; conducting several children's choirs at both music schools. Several times she was speaker at the Mini.Stimmen.Festival in Freistadt. Currently she works as a singing teacher at the Konservatorium für Kirchenmusik St. Pölten.

Barbara Zidar participated in various choirs such as Domchor and Domkantorei St. Pölten, Chorus sine nomine, Wiener Kammerchor, Webern Kammerchor, Salzburger Bachchor and Concentus Vocalis Wien. She has been soloist mainly active in church music, performing in venues as Dom St. Pölten, Wiener Stephansdom, Schubertkirche Lichtental, Stephanskirche Tulln, Stift Melk, etc. She appeared in several concerts with Emanuel Schulz at the Barockschloss Stuppach. Furthermore, she appeared as a soloist at the Wiener Musikverein, Perchtoldsdorf and Wasserschloss Totzenbach. She participated in the ensemble of the Neue Oper Wien at home and abroad. She also appeared in various scenic projects / operas, including at the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Burgruine Hohenegg. She currently lives in Sankt Pölten.
