Chew Shi Yun (Soprano)

Born: Penang, Malaysia

The Malaysian soprano, Chew Shi Yun, obtained her Diploma from Te Deum Music Workshop. She currently serves as the Director of Yin Qi Children’s Choir and Subang City Discipleship Presbyterian Chinese Church Choir. Over the years, she has appeared as an active concert soloist and chorister in collaboration with conductors Elaine Pao (Yin Qi Choir), Caeleb Tee (Yin Qi Choir) and Dr. David Chin (Bachfest Malaysia). Her recent highlights including performance of “Out of the Depths-Bach’s cantata Lecture Concert Tour” and J.S. Bach’s Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 with Bachfest Malaysia; and she was the soloist in John Rutter's Requiem and Dubois’ The Seven Last Words with Yin Qi Choir. She joined Verses-The KL Madrigal Singers in 2021, with director Scott Woo she has performed “The Schert Session” a Schubert’s Lieder lecture recital and has often performed in their “Renaissance and Baroque Gems” Lecture Concert series both publicly and music faculties of local varsities. She is also Founding Member of Malaysia Bach Festival Singers. She currently lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
