The Taiwanese baritone, Ying-Jen Yao, received his Master degree for voice from the Tunghai University. He has studied with Chung-Fa Wang and Jung-Kuang Chen, currently he studies with SyouFen Lee. He was awarded several prizes, including 2007 Newartinc’s young artist prize; 2005 Association of Vocal Artists of R.O.C’s young artist prize; 2004 Taipei Philharmonic Foundation for Culture and Education’s young artist prize; and 2003 3rd Prize of 1st Chung Shan Singing Competition.
Ying-Jen Yao has joined the performances of Die Zauberflöte, Cosi fan tutte, La Serva Padrona, The Legend of Yaoji, La Sonnambula, Die Fledermaus, L'Elisir D'Amore, Gianni Schicchi, and has been the baritone soloist in George Frideric Handel’s Israel in Egypt, Judas Maccabaeus; Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Requiem, Mass in C minor; Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, L.v. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 Choral, and J.S. Bach’s Magnificat (BWV 243), Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Brukner's Te Deum.
Currently Ying-Jen Yao directs the Choruses of Huiwen Senior High School and the Affiliated High School of Tunghai University, Taichung, and the Kaohsiung Medical University Singers. He also teaches in the music programs of Gung-guan Junior High School and Gung-guan Elementary School. And he is the member of the Opera Studio sponsored by NTCH. He also participates as a soloist in the Bach Cantata Series of the Chamber Philharmonic Taipei. |
