The American mezzo-sorano, Hannah Yan, studies for her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal performance at University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (2020-2024). She has placed 3rd in the National Society of Arts and Letters scholarship competition. She particpated in the 2022 20th Century Charleston International Music Competition. In summer 2022, she participated in the New York State Summer School of the Arts; was happy to premiere in the newly commissioned, Pluto, as Jupiter and cover Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro for the Vienna Summer Music Festival. In March 2023, she performed as part of the opera chorus in University of Michigan's production of W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni under the direction of Mo Zhou and Martin Katz. She is also overjoyed to be attending TOI, the Taos Opera Institute this summer 2023. At University of Michigan she performed the role of Junon (Juno) in Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld) in 2023. She is pursuing her Masters of Music degree in Voice Performance at the Eastman School of Music (since fall 2024; expected graduation: 2026). She currently lives in New York City, New York. |
