The American mezzo-soprano, Athena-Sadé Whiteside, studied at Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa (2011-2015). She is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in Cedar Falls. She is completing a degree in Vocal performance and is under the study of Dr. Jean McDonald (since 2015; expected graduation in 2019).
Athena Whiteside's performance credits include Maria Callas in scenes from Michael Daugherty's Jackie O., La Chauve-Souris in Ravel's L'enfant et Les Sortileges, as well as chorus ensemble in Donizetti's L'elisir D'amore. She has been a member of UNI Opera for three years and sings in UNI's Concert Chorale. She currently teaches voice in Waterloo and in her free time she loves to hike through nature, pet horses, and cuddle with cats. She currently lives in Waterloo, Iowa. |
