The American contralto, Sharon Weller, was born in Colorado in the USA and spent the greater part of her childhood in Las Vegas. She studied German Literature and Music at Valparaiso University in Indiana. Further studies followed in Berlin at the Hochschule für Musik and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with René Jacobs, and later with Jessica Cash in London.
As a singer, teacher and stage director with a speciality for historical staging, Sharon Weller has worked in various European countries as well as Asia and South America. Since 1991 she has taught singing and gesture at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and from 2001 until 2008 at the Richard-Strauss-Conservatory in Munich. |
