The German contralto, Silke Weisheit, received her first singing lessons at the age of 16 with Christiane Gaal from Berlin. After studying music education in Essen, she moved in 1989 moved to the Musikhochschule Köln. She first attended the singing class of Professor Claudio Nicolai and finished her studies in 1995 with Professor Hans Sotin. To maintain her voice and to develop further, she still takes regular lessons with Ingeborg Danz.
During her studies, Silke Weisheit appeared in many concerts, primarily in the field of early music (including radio and CD recordings with the Rheinische Kantorei Dormagen (Director: Hermann Max). Guest appearances at the Aalto Theater Essen and the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam followed. She Soon discovered her love for the Lieder singing and appeared, together with her husband, actor Philip Schepmann, in Lieder recitals with recitation. She is currently mainly freelance soloist, but also active in selected ensembles, eg in Immortal-Bach-Ensemble (Director: Morten Schult-Jensen). |
