The American tenor, Stanley Warren, earned both a Master's degree and Performance Certificate from Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Jan DeGaetani, and later studied in England with Sir Peter Pears. He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Stanley Warren made his debut at the Kennedy Center singing Haydn's St. Cecilia Mass with the Washington Chamber Symphony. He is an accomplished interpreter of the works of J.S. Bach and Benjamin Britten, in addition to the works of George Frideric Handel, Clerambault, Rorem and many others. He has sung extensively, both in the USA and abroad, and has appeared with various music festivals at home and abroad, including the Rostropovich Festival, the Rochester Bach Festival, the Israel Festival, the Bach Aria Festival at Stony Brook, the Messiah Festival of Music and Art in Kansas, the Berkshire Choral Institute, and the Aspen Music Festival. He has received rave reviews from the Boston Globe, Washington Post, Guardian of London, Pittsburgh Press, San Antonio Express-News and from Peter Pears himself.
Stanley Warren is also a distinguished teacher. having held posts at the Oklahoma Arts Institute, Berkshire Choral Insitute and Aspen Music Festival. He served as associate professor of voice at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas. Presently (2009), he is an Associate Professor of Voice and Coordinator of Vocal Studies at Union University in Tennessee. |
