The Dutch bass, Hans de Vries, sudied at the Utrechts Conservatorium with the baritone Henk Smit, and succeeds with the German baritone Udo Reinemann. He took further lessons and courses with the bass Hendrik Meint Hamstra, Hans Hotter, Tom Krause, Evelyn Lear, Jekaterina Joffel, Jekaterina Gromova and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. At the Internationale Hugo Wolf-Wettbewerb in Stuttgart in 1987 he won the 2nd prize, and in 1990 he was the prize winner of the Internationale Vocalistenconcours in Den Bosch.
Hans de Vries appears regularly as a soloist in oratorio works of J.S. Bach, J. Haydn, George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart, F. Schubert, L.v. Beethoven, Gabriel Fauré, G. Donizetti and A. Bruckner, but also in the more modern work of composers as Frank Martin and Kees van Baaren.
In the opera area Hans de Vries has already appeared in Antwerp, Metz, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Salzburg, Manchester, Glasgow and many other cities, in roles as Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, Silvano in Un Ballo in Maschera, the Sprecher in Zauberflöte, Licomede and Pluton in de Alceste by J.B. Lully anmd Nazarener in Salome.
Hans de Vries also gives Lieder recitals, usually accompanied by the the pianist Eelko Moolenaar, and has made already several recordings for the Hessischer Rundfunk and the Nederlandse Radio. |
