The German bass, Siegfried Vogel, studied with Arletta Hypas, H. Winkler, and J. Kempter.
Siegfried Vogel made his debut in 1959 as Debut Zizell in Si J'etais roi (Adam). He was a regular artist of Staatsoper of Berlin, and performed there the great bass roles. He also sang on the stages of La Scala in Milan, Vienna, Munich, Dresden, Hamburg, Paris, Zürich, Amsterdam, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Covent Garden in London, San Francisco, New York, Madrid, among many others. He sang Hans Sachs (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), King Henri (Lohengrin) at the Festival of Bayreuth and in Japan with Giuseppe Sinopoli, La Roche (Capriccio) in Salzburg with Wolfgang Sawallisch, Gurnemanz (Parsifal) in Washington with Heinz Fricke (and Plácido Domingo in the title role), and also in Berlin with Daniel Baremboïm. In Berlin, he also performed Freischütz with Zubin Mehta, the Tetralogy and Moses and Aaron with Daniel Baremboïm. With the Opera of Lyon, he sang Gurnemanz (Parsifal) in 1977. He created Lanny Swartz in Nightrider (Meyer), and sang also in the premiers of Lanzelot (Paul Dessau) and Reiter in der Nacht (E.H. Meyer).
More recently Siegfried Vogel sang La Roche (Capriccio) in Dresden, Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte) with the Opera of Chemnitz, world premiere of the German version of Der Weg der Verheißung (Kurt Weill) with tours in New York and Tel-Aviv, Baron Ochs (Rosenkavalier), Graf Waldner (Arabella). In 2001-2002, he sang Lohengrin with the Opera of Sydney.
