The Hungarian mezzo-soprano, Ibolya Verebics, studied voice in Budapest with Judith Sandor, Csaba Végvari und Boldizár Keönch. She continued her training with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf as well as Luciano Pavarotti. She was distinguished several times with proizes in international competitions, such as in Vinas Singing Competetion in Barcelona in 1985, BBC Competition in Cardiff in 1987 and Pavarotti Competition in Philadelphia and New York in 1988.
Ibolya Verebics made regular guest appearances at Haydn Music Festival in Eisenstadt, at the European Music Festival in Eisenstadt, at the European Music Festival of the Bachakademie Stuttgart, and at the International Wolfegger Concerts. Since 1986 she has been a member of the Hungarian State Opera Budapest. She has participated in numerous tours with renowned conductors such as Antal Doráti, Adam Fischer, Eric Ericson and Peter Schreier, both in her homeland and abroad.
Ibolya Verebics has also taken part broadcast and television productions, as well as CD recordings (e.g. W.A. Mozart's C minor Mass, under the baton of Helmuth Rilling), which broughht her positive criticism. |
