The Slovenian mezzo-soprano, Mojca Vedernjak, studied singing with Professor Eva Novšak Houšk (Ljubljana), Kurt Widmer (concert class Basel) and was also member of the Opernstudio Basel. She participated in master-classes with Arleen Augér, Antonio Tonini, Nicolas Giusti, Brigitte Fassbaender, Peter Schreier, etc. At present she works together with Professor Antonie Denygrova. In 1991 she received the Prešeren Prize of the Music Academy Ljubljana for a concert with Hugo Wolf's Lieder. In the same year she became 1st Prize winner of the University Competition in Slovenia and former Yugoslavia. Her opera debut at the Opera Ljubljana followed. In September 1997 she was finalist at the XII. Concours International de Chant de Verviers (Belgium), and at the 6th International Coloratura Singing Competition S. Geszty in Luxembourg 1998 she received a promotion prize as a finalist.
Mojca Vedernjak has participated as a freelance singer in various operas, Lieder and concert productions. At the Theatre Biel she could be heard as Cherubino, Smeton and Rosina. She appeared as a guest also at the Opernfestival OPUS Gattières (France) as Rosina and Cenerentola. During her second invitation to Rossini Operas Festival Rügen 97 she was distinguished with the Putbus scholarship "Gerd Zinser". In 1998 she made guest appearance at the Putbus Festival as Giannina in Spontini's opera Li puntigli delle donne.
Mojca Vedernjak has participated in CD productions and various radio broadcasts in Slovenia and Switzerland. |
