The German soprano, Kristina Vahrenkamp, studied piano and singing at the Hoschschule für Musik in Lübeck from 1992 to 1994; at the Hoschschule für Musik in Detmold from 1994 to 1999 with diploma; and with Barbara Schlick at the Hoschschule für Musik in Cologne from 1999 to 2002. In 2002 she passed her concert exam in Wuppertal. She was trained to perform a wide-ranging singing repertoire, spanning from the Baroque to contemporary.
Since 2002-2003 season Kristina Vahrenkamp sings in concerts. As a soloist, she gives recitals on various German radio stations, for the Schwetzingen festival (Germany), and the Cuenca festival in Spain, as well as the Folle Journée de Nantes in France. She has performed in Paris with the Camerata de l'Isle and the Paul Kuentz Orchestra, with which she also recorded two albums. Recently she was singing the Pie Jesu in the Requiem of Gabriel Fauré in concerts in South America. In November 2011 she will sing in Paris in Haydn’s Schöpfung and Dvorak’s Stabat mater. Her affinity for chamber music has led her to participate in concerts of the Mira Ensemble, touring in the Baltic states, and the mediaeval musical ensemble Ambrosia Ltd. in Austria.
Her operatic work within Accentus included the first run of Matthias Pintscher's L'espace Dernier at the Opéra de Paris. She had also been cast as Diana in Offenbach's Orpheus, and sang Purcell's Indian Queen at the Wuppertal Opera. She was also featured in Philippe Manoury's En Écho and On Iron, and carried the solo part of Philip Glass's Amoveo at the Opéra de Paris. |
