The German soprano, Manuela Uhl, studied in Salzburg, Zürich and Freiburg.
After guest engagements in Freiburg and Essen, Manuela Uhl had from 1995 to 2000 a permanent engagement at Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where she sang Pamina, Queen of the Night, the title roles in Daphne (Strauss), Margarethe (Charles Gounod), Armida (Haydn) and Anne Frank (Frid), among other roles. In 2000 she moved to the ensemble of Bühnen Kiel, to which she belonged until 2003. There, she expanded her repertoire with two other major Strauss roles (Danae and Aminta), as well as several other big roles from the late Romantic era.
Manuela Uhl has performed repeatedly at the Hamburgischen Staatsoper, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Deutschen Oper Berlin, and the Staatsoper Berlin, in Köln, Essen, Braunschweig, Münster, Innsbruck, and Wiesbaden and performed main roles at the Handel Festivals in Karlsruhe and Halle. In the 2005-2006 season she sang Elisabetta, Desdemona and Rusalka, appeared as a guest on several occasions and made her debut as Violetta in L.v. Beethoven's Leonore in Tokyo. She attracted international attention with her Salome at the Opera de Montpellier, conducted by Friedemann Layer. Since the 2006-2007 season she can be heard in the ensemble of the Deutschen Oper Berlin. There she sang in three productions, the female lead role in Germania by Franchetti in Zemlinsky's Traumgörge and in Freischütz (Agathe).
On May 10, 2008, Manuela Uhl sang Mozart concert arias with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the baton of Marek Janowski. |
