Jo Anne Taylor (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Independence, Kansas, USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Jo Anne Lesco Taylor, obtained her BME degree in Music education from Baker University (1972-1974); her Bachelor degree in Music Education from Pittsburg State University (1974-1977); her MME degree in Music Education (choral) from University of Missouri-Kansas City (1989-1995); Covenant Orientation at North Park University (2011); and her Master of Divinity degree, magna cum laude, Ministry from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota (2007-2012).

Jo Anne Taylor has worked as Music Teacher at North Kansas City Schools (January 1989-January 1998); Music Teacher at Mounds View ISD (January 1998-January 1999); Adjunct Voice Faculty at North Central University (January 1999-January 2003); Middle School Student Activities Coordinator at Minnehaha Academy (August 1998-June 2011); Music teacher at Minnehaha Academy Middle School (August 1998-2013); Music and Worship Pastor at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Minneapolis (August 2002-July 2013); Pastor at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm, Minnesota (since August 2013).

Jo Anne Taylor has performed as alto soloist with the Oregon Bach Festival (1999-2007), Dale Warland Singers, Robert Shaw Festival Singers, Kansas City Symphony, Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony, and Oratory Bach Ensemble (Director: Matthew J. Olson). Her recording credits include solo tracks with the Kansas City Chorale for Nimbus Records (Alleluia, an American Hymnbook; Fern Hill), the Rose Ensemble (Season of Angels; Slavic Holiday) and the Dale Warland Singers (Leonard Bernstein and Benjamin Britten: “Rejoice in the Lamb”). She currently lives in New Ulm, Minnesota.
